I already told you about the epic day we had at Rock Herk last Friday, but I’ve been thinking if I should write about the second day. First I thought I shouldn’t because who cares? Than again, it would be weird that I’ve been talking about seeing Dog Eat Dog and Jacle Bow and being sooooo excited for it.
So here we go… the second day I dragged my ass to the festival, not hungover because I was the designated driver the day before. No I dragged myself because of yet another migraine (if you get bored, you can stop reading now). I’ve had them since I was 16, so you’d think I’d get used to them. Yes, I am used to it, but it just pisses me off when I get a migraine every time (perhaps a bit exaggerated) I am somewhere having fun.
I tried to stay in bed as long as possible, which made me miss out on Jacle Bow. Once we got to the festival I was trying so hard to fight it, so we ‘watched’ Whispering Sons, Blacklisted, Iceage and Oathbreaker. None of these aren’t really my cup of tea, and the ‘headaches’ did not help. Sorry Oathbreaker, but you guys made it worse;-). I tried during Warhaus, a Belgian band, side project from Balthazar, but my brother as sweet as he is didn’t mind going home.
I hated myself so much for it, I knew he had never seen Dog Eat Dog too. And he actually already listened to the band in their bigger days! So yeah, you might find it ridiculous, and say ‘it’s just a band’ or ‘why didn’t you stay?’ But if I had, I’d to stay two or three days in bed… so you have to make the decision, staying for something you love and suffer for a couple of days in a completely darkened room, with no sound or lights, or crawl into bed and actually feel a bit better.
I am still not sure if I made the right decision. Nevertheless when I was writing about day 1, I realised we already had an awesome day at Rock Herk, one which I will never forget.
